Still Playing with Fire: A Military Firefighter’s Culinary Journey

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Chef Anna Choiniere discovered her passion for cooking at an early age. However, before pursuing a culinary career, she felt a greater calling to serve in the United States Air Force as a firefighter. It was during this time that her love for food was reignited—cooking meals for her fellow firefighters and finding joy in bringing people together through food.

After her time in the service, she decided to fully embrace her passion, training in culinary arts at Johnson & Wales University. Gaining hands-on experience in multiple restaurants and kitchens, she refined her skills and developed a signature approach to food: blending modern homestyle cooking with refined culinary techniques. In 2023, she launched Raising Rose in Charleston, SC, bringing her vision of elevated, customized dining experiences to life.

Chef Anna believes that every meal should be more than just food, it should be an experience. She tailors every menu to the unique tastes and needs of her clients, creating bespoke private dining experiences, personalized in-home meal prep, luxury vacation chef services, and intimate celebrations. Inspired by seasonal ingredients and flavors from around the world, she creates cuisine that is both comforting and artistically refined.

Her commitment to culinary excellence, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality sets her apart. Whether preparing a carefully curated multi-course dinner, stocking a family's refrigerator with thoughtfully crafted meals, or serving guests throughout an extended vacation, Chef Anna ensures every experience reflects her passion for exceptional food and personalized service.

She currently resides just outside of Charleston with her husband, Bruce, and their two children, where she continues to find inspiration in the vibrant culinary community while traveling to serve clients throughout the United States and internationally.

Anna Choiniere is the Owner and Executive Chef of Raising Rose, a luxury private chef company. She has proudly led Raising Rose since 2023. With a strong foundation in hospitality, Anna seamlessly blends culinary artistry with thoughtful, high-level execution.

Associate Chef

Roberto Navarro

Chef Roberto Navarro is an Associate Chef operating under the Raising Rose umbrella, bringing in over 15 years of experience. His background includes training under Michelin-starred chefs in Spain and serving as Sous Chef at Michelin-recommended Zero George here in Charleston.

Born and raised in Spain, Chef Roberto’s style blends bold Spanish foundations with subtle Asian influence and modern technique - resulting in elevated, intentional dishes and a refined, seamless dining experience for our clients.
